MISUSE OF THE BIBLE
by Tom Lineaweaver
I don't believe there is anything more heinous than to misuse the Bible to explain what is happening in the world today.
I recently saw a video put out by tribulationusa . com, where they have a man named Jeff Berwick proclaiming the dollar will collapse, and there will be a great economic upheaval. He has based that on the Shemitah, roughly translated, "the law of sevens." It's based on Deuteronomy 15 where God commanded the people of Israel to do certain things at the end of the seventh year. It's also in Leviticus 25, except there is added about the "year of jubilee."
Nowhere in these Scriptures is any economic upheaval mentioned. Yet these people are proclaiming that. Jeff Berwick says the dollar will collapse in September of 2015. First, he talked about the Federal Reserve and the Government of the United States and how they mismanaged the economy. Because of this the world is leaving the dollar as it's reserve currency. And I was with him until he started talking about law of sevens. And he totally misused Scripture to show the dollar will collapse in September 2015. That is not what the Sabbath year and the Year of Jubilee was about.
The only thing I can think of is he wants people to use his bitcoins instead of the dollar. So he's set to make a bundle if the dollar does collapse. He is not concerned about what happens to you if the dollar collapses. He's just a rich guy that wants to get richer, and he is using fear to get what he wants.
At the same time, Americans could use a year of jubilee. Can you imagine all your debts released. And Liberty proclaimed again. Property returned to you or your family. That is if the banks foreclosed, you or your family will get that property back. But nowhere do these Scriptures say you should stock up on food for the upcoming economic catastrophe. It does say you should give aid to the poor.
Nowhere is the misuse of Scripture so apparent than at tribulation . com. This site is full of garbage preached by John Hagee.
The truth is, nowhere is the United States of America found in Bible Prophecy. You can not look anywhere in the Bible and say, that's America. Those that do are of the father of lies. You can not truthfully point to Scripture and say this foretells hard economic times for the United States. That too is a lie. And you can not go to the Bible and say Barack Obama is the anti-Christ. If anyone in America resembles the anti-Christ it's John Hagee. He is supposedly a preacher of the Gospel, yet he claims Jesus is not the Messiah. You can't get more anti-Christ than that. And if the Old Covenant had any power today, John Hagee should be taken out and stoned to death. In a past life, John Hagee was probably a Pharisee that hated Jesus with a passion.
Sorry, whenever I think about that bozo I get sidetracked. The truth is, we are not under the Old Covenant. That ended at the cross. And Christ inaugurated the New Covenant with his blood, according to Hebrews. So, trying to use the Old Covenant to prove economic upheavals today is just another lie. Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, which tells me everyday is a Sabbath day, every year a Sabbath year, and a year of Jubilee. We should be living a Sabbath life.
Please don't pay attention to those that are misusing the Bible for their own personal gain.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU WITH KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH
