THE ROOTS OF MY RAISING

I have been exposed to many kinds of music. But, when I was a little boy, here's the kind of music I heard most of...
My mother had this album, and played it often...
Mom listened to a station from Boyertown, Pennsylvania called WBYO. They played a lot of the Happy Goodman Family....
I heard this a lot too...
I first heard Maude Amiee Humbard do this song. Couldn't find it by her.
Rex Humbard was the first televangelist I was exposed to. He was Pastor of the Cathedral of Tomorrow. That is where the Cathedral Quartet came from...
I remember mom, my sister Carole, and I took a bus trip to the Cathedral of Tomorrow. I never heard Rex Humbard do a lot of begging for money. Yeah, he sold books, and Maude Aimee's records. It can also be explained by what I saw there. The Cathedral of Tomorrow was circular. The inner, central part of the circle was the sanctuary. The middle part of the circle were the classrooms. The outer part of the circle was like a shopping mall, and it was open on Sunday. There was a jewelry shop there. A restaurant where we ate. It wasn't just a snack bar. It was a full restaurant. I think I got spaghetti. With it came with a salad and garlic bread. No wonder he never begged for money.
When we just got into Akron, our bus broke down. So, the driver made a few phone calls. The church sent out a bus, and our bus was fixed by the time we went home.
I was exposed to a lot of religion in my first 10 years. My mom would drag me to church wherever she went at the time. As a young boy I never felt comfortable in church. So, when I was old enough to make my own decision, I stayed home with my dad who hasn't gone to church since Easter of 1945.
My dad, eventhough he never went to church when I was young, I was till was exposed to what he believed. He was very intelligent, and he knew the Bible. Doctrinally, I would say he was Reformed.
Mom was a King James only person. Dad wasn't. He use to quote Hebrews 9.26 this way, "Once in the consummation of the aeons Christ came to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself." My mother condemned my dad quoting that because it wasn't in the King James.
I became a member of the local Church of Christ on December 29, 1974. One of the preachers used the New American Standard Bible, the other used the American Standard, and I looked for both. It wasn't hard to find an NASB. And what did I find when I got to Hebrews 9.26? "Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself." "Consummation of the ages," was very close to what my dad quoted. Doesn't that tell you my dad studied the Bible. That's probably where I got it. Anyway, I was excited, and went to show my mother. Her response was, "That's not the King James."
So, the roots of my raising was steeped in religion, with two parents that had opposing views. That is not fun. But then again, they had opposing views on just about everything. And, after watching that war, I have been searching for a wife that did not have opposing beliefs. But, it seems I was always a little different. Today, I am a lot different.
I put this together because I believe you should know as much as you can about the next President.
Proverbs 22.6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it." ASV. And I will tell you, the roots of my raising is still having a huge impact on my life. If you want a President that had this kind of raising, then...
THERE IS JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THAT OLD TIME RELIGION
