DENIED RIGHT TO APPEAL
by Tom Lineaweaver
by Tom Lineaweaver
On Friday March 23 I went into the Social Security Office in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to appeal the decision to suspend my SSI Disability. They refused to let me appeal, nor did they offer any help to appeal.
In the letter of 03/15/2018 under "How to Appeal," it says in part, "If you need assistance, we can help you fill out the form." They refused me any help.
Once an appeal is filed, it's my understanding the SSI-D payments would not stop. Because of the incompetence of the SSA Office in Lebanon, PA, I will not get an April 2018 payment. I won't be able to pay my rent, my electric bill, phone bill, buy food, etc.
Here's what happened. I got a letter in February about an appointment on March 1st. The letter said that if I have any questions or can't make the appointment, I should call Mrs. DeJesus at (866) 716-9635 ext. 20103. I did call to let her know I would not be available at that time. She never called back, never made another appointment. She is the reason my SSI-D has been suspended.
I have been in poor health. I've had pain in my left shoulder making it difficult to put clothing on. I have been battling fluid retention making it hard to put my shoes, so consequently I have not gone out of the apartment too often, which means I didn't go to the mailbox often.
On the 8th of March I was admitted to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, PA. Fluid was building up giving me shortness of breath and high blood pressure. I was in there till I escaped on the 10th. But I spent time resting and recuperating. Sunday the 18th, I felt rather good, so I did some shopping and got my mail.
In the mail was a letter from Social Security. It was a "Second Request." It said I did not keep my appointment. Of course not, I left message after message to Mrs. DeJesus to no avail. Had she simply gave me another appointment that I could keep, this Second Request would not have been necessary. In fact, Mrs. DeJesus didn't even call me for the original appointment. I know that because there was no caller ID listed, and there was no Voice Mail message.
In this Second Request was a statement if I don't respond my SSI payments would stop. They wanted to talk to my by March the 12th. I didn't see that letter till the 18th. The person to call in the second letter is Ms. Brouse at (866) 716-9635 ext. 20125. Well I called and left message after message after message. Told her what happened, but she never returned any of my calls. Which leads to the current situation.
Because of the incompetence of the SSA Office in Lebanon, PA, my SSI-D payments have been stopped, and I have no income. If I could afford an attorney, I would sue that office, especially Mrs. DeJesus.
I've been on SSI-D since 1990, and never had a problem like this. I have always cooperated with them, they always cooperated with me, until now.
Why now? The only reason I can think of is Donald Trump. Not that he is doing this to just me, although it is no secret that I believe Donald Trump is an evil man. But Donald hates poor people. Please look at the article here... www.thenation.com/article/this-is-the-most-dangerous-time-in-decades-to-be-an-american-living-in-poverty/
That article begins by saying, "Republicans have launched a “breathtaking” assault on a range of safety-net programs—from health care to housing to legal aid."
The article goes on to say, "Trump’s budget would cut more than $300 billion from Medicaid, taking away health care from millions of people; $200 billion from student aid; and $200 billon from the SNAP program (food assistance), which currently has an average benefit of just $1.40 per person per meal. It would cut rental assistance—which currently reaches only one in four eligible families—jeopardizing more than 500,000 subsidized households, and eliminate the fund for public-housing repairs, even though there is a backlog of between $26 billion and $40 billion to fix things like leaky roofs and bad wiring. It eliminates the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which helps at least 6 million households with utility bills. It cuts $72 billion from federal disability programs, saving less than the cost of Republicans’ recently passed tax cut for heirs of multimillion-dollar estates."
Trump is cutting all aid to the poor and needy without any alternatives. Without alternatives, people are going to die. Oh, but they had to give a break to children of millionaires.
So, where are the Christians around him, like Jerry Falwell Jr. If they support this evil Donald Trump they aren't following the teachings of Jesus.
I will agree that the Federal Government was never supposed to be a charitable organization, and that the entitlements should be ended. But, there is a right way and a wrong way to get things done, and Donald Trump is doing it the wrong way. You don't just yank people off these programs with no other place to go. That's just not right for many reasons. It shows how evil Donald Trump is.
Anyway, I need help, at least to pay my rent. If you are willing to help, please send me a message at: Tom.Line@comcast.net
Thanks for your time.
