ABOUT MURDOCH MYSTERIES
Set in Toronto at the dawn of the 20th century, Murdoch Mysteries is a one-hour drama series that explores the intriguing world of William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), a methodical and dashing detective who pioneers innovative forensic techniques to solve some of the city's most gruesome murders.
Murdoch’s circle of associates includes Constable George Crabtree (Jonny Harris, Hatching, Matching and Dispatching), Murdoch’s eager and often naïve right-hand man; Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig, Coronation Street), Murdoch’s skeptical yet reluctantly supportive boss; and the love of his life, pathologist-turned-psychiatrist Dr. Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy, Durham County), a staunch ally who shares the detective’s fascination with forensic science and innovative ideas. All are valuable allies who help Murdoch solve his varied cases and traverse the many stratums of Victorian-turned-Edwardian society. www.cbc.ca/murdochmysteries/

Where have I been? Of course, I've seen the name of the show on the on screen guide. But, when I see the name Murdoch, I think about The A-Team. While I like The A-Team, and the team is good together, but separate? One day I saw a promo of the show. No Howling Mad Murdoch anywhere. It looked interesting . I decided to watch an episode. I've been watching it ever since.
The station I watch it on has it scheduled for Monday and Friday night at 8PM (now 10 PM). Murdoch Mysteries is a decent show. Detective William Murdoch is a devout Catholic, and in late 1800s Canada, that probably meant something.
In the one episode that dealt with the subject of homosexuality, Detective Murdoch referred to a homosexual man as a Sodomite. Wow! I can imagine a Catholic of the time period using that language. Well that beats Supergirl, Monday night at 8PM , which promotes lesbianism, and has become one of the most trashy shows on TV today.
ABOUT YANNICK BISSON
With over 60 credits to his name, Yannick Bisson is well known to audiences for his long-running roles as ‘Detective William Murdoch’ on Victorian-era detective series Murdoch Mysteries, with production almost wrapped on season seven for CBC; FBI Agent ‘Jack Hudson’ in the crime drama series Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye; and as ‘Joey Barrett’ opposite Rick Springfield in High Tide. Bisson spent a year in New Zealand with his young family shooting the first season of High Tide and several more years in the U.S. shooting seasons two and three of the series. While he was in the U.S., Access Hollywood named him “one of the six hottest most up-and-coming actors to look out for," a list that also included Vince Vaughn. Bisson returned to Canada to perform the lead role of ‘Richmond Hobson’ in the CBC family series Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy as well as performing as attorney ‘Brian Tedrow’ in the U.S. hit Showtime drama series Soul Food.

As you can see, I am quite taken by this show. And, why not? It's a decent show. More decent than most that's on American TV. Just as Washington DC forgot how to do decent government and Nashville forgot how to do Country music, Hollywood forgot how to do good TV.
