NEW USE FOR OATMEALby Tom Lineaweaver Well, at least it's new to me. I now use it as a topping for ice cream. And I noticed it prevents the ice cream from melting too fast. Which, as a weather enthusiast, I understand this. When clouds move in over a valley, it traps cold air in the valley. Same is true with oatmeal on ice cream. The oatmeal acts like a blanket.
Oh, I do not cook the oatmeal, or it would melt the ice cream. Nope I use the quick oats as is. It's healthier that way.
I do a lot of things with oatmeal. I mix it with soups, and other dishes that features runniness. The way I use to use crackers. It does the same and it's healthier.
I try not to cook oatmeal, cooking it weakens the goodness of it, as it does anything . My mother used to cook everything till it was mush. When that happens much of the goodness is cooked out. The same thing happens with milk. Milk is much better for you when it's raw. When they pasteurize and homogenize it, what's left is basically colored water. Most anything is better as natural as possible.
Oatmeal is very good for you. I try not to cook the goodness out of it. Even when I want hot oatmeal. I put it in a bowl along with any other ingredients like cinnamon, mix it up, then pour warm to hot water over it, then I stir it all. Hot oatmeal with out cooking it.
So, do your heart a favor, eat oatmeal without cooking it.
