OLDIES FRAME OF MIND by Tom Lineaweaver Yep, sometimes I get in the mood for oldies. Not what passes as oldies today, but real oldies. Music from the beginning of the Rock 'n' Roll era. A time before the MTV generation era.
Let's get started with...ANDY KIM - ROCK ME GENTLY
Here are the HOLLIES - LONG COOL WOMAN IN A BLACK DRESS
Oldies aren't just rocky, it also includes artists like CONNIE FRANCIS - EVERYBODY'S SOMEBODY'S FOOL
BOBBY SHERMAN was very popular for a time. Here he is with CRIED LIKE A BABY...
Then there were the super girl bands like the SHIRELLES - WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW
THE CRYSTALS - THEN HE KISSED
LITTLE PEGGY MARCH provided a softer touch with I WILL FOLLOW HIM
What about the softer side of ELVIS PRESLEY - CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE
In the 70s, we were musically reminded to LISTEN TO THE MUSIC by the DOOBIE BROTHERS
And we drove the VENTURA HIGHWAY with AMERICA
The EAGLES reminded us to sometimes we just have to TAKE IT EASY
Then we had what was called Bubblegum Music. Here are the SUGAR BEARS - YOU ARE THE ONE
They were just one group I cut records off a cereal box to listen to. The other on were THE ARCHIES - SUGAR SUGAR
ORLEANS reminded us that LOVE TAKES TIME
I have stated before that loneliness gives us the best music. Here's the LITTLE RIVER BAND with LONESOME LOSER
The best music came out of the early years of Rock 'n' Roll. If you still like this music, call your local Oldies station and tell them you want to hear it.
