We often hear the saying, "God is good, all the time... and all the time God is good."Why is God good all the time, when we're not good three fourth of the time, to each other or to God?

I'll answer using the straight-forward teaching of my Pentecostal youth, but I would like to let you know that my beliefs go far beyond that--both due to life experience and Religious Philosophy studies. So to simplify it... Well, for me the answer would be that 'God' gave us freewill, to make our own choices and mistakes--we cannot blame 'him' for our own shortcomings. This is rather difficult to answer because of my Native-American upbringing, and then my studies of eastern beliefs. If you trip over a branch, you can curse the branch but it was not its fault--it was your own for lacking attention or... There is also a matter of 'his plan' for us, which all too often we cannot comprehend. Suffering teaches...without pain and suffering we cannot achieve a higher state of conscious/empathy. Do you like the movie, "Book of Eli"? He said it best, we get caught up in what we think we're supposed to be doing, rather than listening and doing what we actually should be doing! ...or something like that. 'He' does not expect perfection but rather a close relationship, but to hear correctly we must turn aside from the world and its ways--that's another thread though... =)

True, we do have a free will. But, cannot God override free will? Also, didn't Jesus say, "Be perfect as my Father in heaven is perfect"?
