GEORGE WILL
by Tom Lineaweaver
Folks, do you remember what it felt like when you realized your dad was not perfect? It happened to me in 1965. I turned 9 years old that year. Well, I got that same feeling today. George Will has been the most level headed conservative commentator throughout my life. When he was on, "This Week with David Brinkley," I could count on him to say the most wisest things. In fact he is the reason I watched the show. Something changed.
Today I was listening to Rush Limbaugh, before and after my nap. When I woke up I heard the voice of George Will. Rush was playing a soundbite. George was condemning Donald Trump for saying this about George W. Bush, "He lied, people died." George did not offer wisdom as he once did. It was just condemnation, pure and simple.
Not often, but occasionally, I watch Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace. The last time I did, George Will was on the panel, and I noticed a change then. He was on the panel on February 14th. You can see it here....
Somehow, it sounds better here than in Rush's soundbite. But, he has still changed. He is not the same. He has become a typical Fox commentator. Prior to joining Fox, he could never, ever, ever, fit into the neo-con mold. He does now. And I am hurt by that. And I'm angry at Fox for destroying something wonderful. The man in the picture above, and on the video may look and sound like George Will, but it's not him. Fox News turned him into a neo-con automaton. They ripped out his heart and soul and molded him into something he never was.
